The group stage of the Tri-Series concludes as table toppers New Zealand take on Zimbabwe.

  • Zimbabwe have lost all three games so far in this series.
  • New Zealand have a 100% winning record in the Tri-Series.
  • New Zealand won the head to head by eight wickets a week ago.

Many cricket fans have bemoaned the lack of white-ball international tri-series over recent year and it has been an absolute treat for followers across the globe to keep an eye on the group stages between Zimbabwe, New Zealand and South Africa.

This clash is the final match of the group stage and the returns for both teams could not be any different with New Zealand winning all three of their games and Zimbabwe, despite being the hosts, losing all three of theirs.

Expect a big crowd for this Friday afternoon contest as Zimbabwe, who are unable to reach the final of this Tri-Series, would like to sign off with a victory as hosts.

As for the Black Caps, they continue to be one of the great white-ball sides and they will be confident of making it four in a row in Harare.

Zimbabwe Preview

There were some positives for Zimbabwe to take out of their last defeat in this Tri-Series with opener Brian Bennett getting the team off to a fine start and making 61 runs from 43 balls.

The experienced Ryan Burl also stepped up with 36 not out from 31 balls at number five but the Chevrons will require others to make more of a contribution with the bat if they are to bow out at the group stage with a victory.

Beating New Zealand will not be an easy task for Sikandar Raza’s side and they will need to be more potent with the ball as Tinotenda Maposa (2/38) and Richard Ngarava (1/21) were the only ones to pick up wickets in their last game.

New Zealand Preview

Fresh from winning their opening two games, New Zealand made it three wins from three in the Zimbabwe Twenty20 Tri-Series with an easy seven wicket victory with 25 balls remaining in Harare on Tuesday.

That fixture was against South Africa, the current World Test Champions and a side who have performed very well over the last decade in white ball international cricket.

The experienced Tim Seifert was key for New Zealand when he hit 66 not out from 48 balls at the top of the order to back up his two catches behind the stumps in the first innings of the game versus South Africa.

With the ball, Jacob Duffy, Adam Milne and Mitchell Santner all come into this match after picking up two wickets each on Wednesday.

Weather Conditions

The conditions are very settled in Harare at the moment with the temperature getting up to 20-22 degrees in this match. Expect strong sunshine and no clouds!

ZIM vs NZ Pitch Report

We have had a few one-sided games in this series so it is still a bit of a mystery this pitch! Overall it looks like a good batting surface and whoever bats first will be targeting a total of 160+.

Toss: To Bowl

Four of the five games so far in this Zimbabwe Twenty20 Tri-Series have been won by the team chasing. Therefore, we predict that both captains will want to bowl first in this match.
