It was a fascinating second ODI in Colombo on Saturday and ultimately Sri Lanka were unable to chase down the target of 249 set by Bangladesh and we crack on to this game for the decider!
Sri Lanka won the opening match of the series and there were strong performances from the hosts in the second game but no one was able to turn an impressive display into a match-winning showing.
With the bat, expect keeper-batter Kusal Mendis and Janith Liyanage to come into this game with plenty of confidence after hitting half-centuries in Colombo.
Bangladesh Preview
When teams win narrow games, it can often lead to a surge of self-belief, particularly after a run of poor results and that is exactly what Bangladesh will be hoping for after they won by 16 runs in the day-nighter in Colombo.
Crucial to the victory were not only the half-centuries from Parvez Hossain Emon at the top of the order and Towhid Hridoy at number four but the contributions of Shamim Hossain (22), Jaker Ali (24) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (33*) at six, seven and eight respectively.
Considering that leaves out captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz and former Test skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, there is the possibility of Bangladesh making a big score on Tuesday.
With the ball, Tanvir Islam was the difference between the teams on Saturday, taking 5/39 and if he can do the same, including two maidens on Tuesday, then Bangladesh will have an excellent chance of securing the series!
