Pakistan won the first T20I by 22 runs at the same venue on Thursday. This was their first win against Australia in the format in over seven years. They had lost seven matches against the Men in Yellow during this period.

Pakistan posted 168/8 after winning the toss and opting to bat first. In reply, Australia reached 57/2 in the powerplay but lost their way soon after. The pitch helped the spinners considerably, and the quartet of Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Abrar Ahmed, and Mohammad Nawaz made the most of it.

In the first T20I, spinners got a substantial amount of assistance from the surface at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Scoring runs freely became very difficult after the ball became softer. It will be interesting to see whether the nature of the pitch changes in the second T20I.
