MATCH: Bangladesh vs Malaysia Women
DATE: Jul 24, 2024
TIME: 14:00 IST / 8:30 GMT
VENUE: Rangiri Dambulla Stadium – Dambulla, Sri Lanka
TOURNAMENT: Asia Cup 2024

Bangladesh Women (BAN-W) will take on Malaysia Women (MAL-W) in Match 11 of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024, at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium in Dambulla, on Wednesday, July 24. Bangladesh need to win the upcoming game to solidify their case for the playoff berth and hope Thailand lose to Sri Lanka in their next game as they have a superior Net Run Rate (NRR). Bangladesh have played two games, won one against Thailand, and succumbed to Sri Lanka in their first game.

On the other hand, Malaysia are potentially out of the tournament losing two matches in as many games they have played. Even if they win the upcoming game, they cannot make the playoffs with their NRR standing at negative 4.150. They do have a chance to spoil Bangladesh’s prospects, if the result does go in their favour, Group B will be more or less settled.

Murshida Khatun played a responsible knock against Thailand in the last game as she amassed 50 runs off 55 balls as the powerplay garnered just 39 runs chasing a target of 97. She smashed eight boundaries that built the momentum to generate the prescribed required run rate.

Rubeya Khan was the pick of the bowler for Bangladesh in the last game. She picked four wickets in as many overs, conceding just 14 runs at an economy rate of 3.5. She picked the wickets of the top three batters in Thailand’s lineup and was the reason for the team’s downfall.
