TOURNAMENT: Asia Cup 2024

With two wins under their belt, India have more or less confirmed their tickets for the semi-finals, unless something dramatic happens in their final league game against Nepal on July 23. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side has been terrific with the bat, especially in the last match, where they smashed 201 runs against the United Arab Emirates.

Richa Ghosh reigned supreme as she smashed 64* runs off 29 deliveries, while openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma were all class in the match against Pakistan. Among bowlers, Deepti Sharma has stood tall. Shreyanka Patil’s absence is a major blow for the team, but they are well-equipped to get the job done against the neighbouring Nepal side.

Deepti Sharma has been India’s biggest match-winner with the ball in the tournament. She picked up three wickets against Pakistan in the opening match and was also adjudged Player of the Match. In the second match against the UAE, she picked up two wickets and is currently the leading wicket-taker of the tournament.
