UAE eye a hat-trick of wins

  • UAE handed Qatar a huge defeat in their previous encounter
  • Qatar found no success with the ball
  • UAE are in sublime form with both bat and ball

UAE Women have won two in two games so far, while their third match was abandoned due to rain. For Qatar, this will be their third match after a loss in the opening game and a washed-out match after that.

Qatar Women will not be happy with the outcome of their last match either. They did not get to play against Malaysia due to bad weather. It would have been a great opportunity for them to get some runs and confidence before they face the UAE again.

UAE Women had posted a huge total batting first against Qatar in their previous head-to-head match. Qatar Women failed to pick up a single wicket in that game.

Skipper Aysha, one of the most promising players in Qatar’s lineup, failed to deliver with both bat and ball. She’s one of the most consistent bowlers for Qatar and has a great strike rate with the bat.

United Arab Emirates Women Preview

UAE Women started with a bang. They scored 192 runs against Qatar Women batting first in just 16 Overs and then retired out all 10 batters. Skipper Esha Rohit Oza scored 113 off 55 balls while her opening partner, Theertha Sathish, added 74 off 42 deliveries.

Michelle Botha’s 3 for 11 led UAE’s bowling efforts in the defence of such a big total as they bowled out Qatar Women for just 29 runs. It was a completely one-sided affair.

UAE had restricted Malaysia to 30 for 8 in their previous match. Katie Thompson was the star performer in that game with 4 for 7 runs. She continued her good form against Qatar and finished with 2 for 6 in 3 Overs.

Thompson, Botha, and Heena Hotchandani are the match-winners to watch out for in the bowling attack. The batting lineup is strong with some reliable players coming in at 3 and 4.

Overall, UAE Women have a balanced side with plenty of in-form players in both departments. They will have a clear upper hand going into this match.

Qatar Women Preview

Qatar Women will be on the back foot as they take on the UAE once again. They haven’t had any game time since their previous loss. They need a huge comeback to turn things around.

Firstly, Qatar will need their bowlers to deliver some early wickets and not let the UAE openers run away with the game. It doesn’t take a 190+ score to win a match on this ground. If Qatar Women conceded more than 110-120 runs while bowling first, they will have a hard time chasing down that total.

There are some promising bowlers in this side who’ve done quite well in their previous outings before coming to Thailand. In addition to Aysha, they have Roheed Akhtar and Sudha Thapa, who have been among the wicket-takers for Qatar.

Rizpha Emanuel and Aysha are good candidates for the opening slots. While Aysha has played in the middle order previously, she would be a great fit even as an opener.

Angelina Mare is another promising middle-order batter who will play a key role in this match. Others like Khadija Imtiaz and Christeena Jacob, who were out for a duck at 3 and 4 in their last outing, will be expected to find their rhythm and deliver a strong partnership.

Weather Conditions

The weather forecast is for light rain in Bangkok with a high of 31 degrees Celsius on the match day. There aren’t many signs of the rain coming to a halt during the day, and we are likely to have either a match with reduced overs or no play at all.

UAE-W vs QTR-W Pitch Report

There is plenty of help for both batters and bowlers on this wicket. The outfield may not be very fast since there has been rain almost every day. Bowlers will have the edge in the contest. The average 1st innings score at this venue is 97 runs. We reckon anything over 110 will be a highly competitive total.

Toss: To Bowl

Most games at this venue have been abandoned due to rain in this tournament. However, two matches had a result, and it went in favor of the team bowling first. We reckon bowling first will be a great idea for UAE Women as they can quickly wrap up Qatar’s innings and chase down a small target. Whereas Qatar could see it as an opportunity to post a better total in this game and be in a competitive position.
