Sri Lanka Women (SL-W) will lock horns with South Africa Women (SA-W) in the sixth game of the Tri-Nation ODI Series 2025, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, on Friday, May 9. Notably, the two sides faced each other in the third game of the ongoing series, with the home team edging past the Proteas by five wickets.

The upcoming game will be more like a preparation for the Chamari Athapaththu-led side as they have already qualified for the finals and are set to lock horns with the mighty Indians on May 11. Sri Lanka has played solid cricket so far, winning two out of three games. They will be coming into this contest with a win over India by three wickets and will be hoping to polish their skills in this game.

For South Africa, this game is more about salvaging their pride before they fly back home. Having lost all three games so far, the visitors haven’t been at their usual best and have been outplayed in all departments by the other two teams. Skipper Laura Wolvaardt, who missed the last game due to sickness, will be back in the XI and wishes to guide her side to a win.

Pitch Report

The R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo has provided some balanced surfaces in the tournament so far. Batters who have shown a willingness to spend time in the middle have been able to score runs. Spinners have found help, especially in the second innings. The captain who wins the toss should look to bat first.

Probable Best Performers

Probable Best Batter: Annerie Dercksen

The young South African all-rounder, Annerie Dercksen, has been in fine form in the tournament so far. With two fifties to her name, she stands second on the list of most runs scored with 172 runs in three games. South Africa will once again bank on her to score substantial runs.

Probable Best Bowler: Sugandika Kumari

Sugandika Kumari could be the best bowler in the upcoming game against South Africa. She has so far picked up four wickets from two games at an average of 23.25, and is her side’s best bowler. With the conditions favouring the spinner, Kumari could act as a potent threat to the opposition in the middle overs.
