MATCH: Durban Super Giants vs Joburg Super Kings
DATE: Feb 08, 2024
TIME: 21:00 IST / 15:30 GMT
VENUE: Wanderers Stadium – Johannesburg, South Africa
TOURNAMENT: SA20 2024
Durban Super Giants (DSG) were terrific in the league stage of the ongoing SA20 2024. However, towards the end of the league, they suffered a heartbreak at the hands of Joburg Super Kings (JSK), which forced them to finish second on the points table. After losing to Sunrisers Eastern Cape by 52 runs in Qualifier 2, they are once again set to face the familiar Faf du Plessis-led side, who would be confident of their chances after a terrific nine-wicket win over Paarl Royals in the Eliminator.
Notably, JSK skipper Faf du Plessis and Leus de Plooy are in remarkable form at the moment. The openers once again smashed a half-century each in the last match as their form will be vital for the team going forward. Sam Cook and Nandre Burger picked up four and three wickets respectively and courtesy of the same, the visitors will be much more relaxed.
Meanwhile, the Keshav Maharaj-led side will have to focus on their batting. They were bundled for 106 runs in the last match, which is a massive concern. However, they are quality experienced players in the middle, who can turn things around in Qualifier 2.
The Wanderers Stadium Pitch Report and Conditions:
Bowling first will be ideal in Johannesburg. The pitch is expected to assist the batters and a lot of runs can be scored in the middle. Anything over 180 runs will be a good total.

Probable Best Batter: Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis is in remarkable form and on top of that, he is someone who can deliver in crunch situations. He has a lot of experience playing these big matches and will be crucial for his team’s success. The opener didn’t start well in the tournament but managed to hit three half-centuries in his last four appearances.
Probable Best Bowler: Sam Cook
Sam Cook didn’t play a single match of SA20 until the Eliminator. He stunned everybody with his four-wicket haul and will once again play a big part in Qualifier 2. The team management is likely to back him with crucial overs as the 26-year-old will partner with in-form pacer Nandre Burger.
