England Women look to complete the series win at the earliest opportunity!
- England ended a run of three successive WT20I defeats with Wednesdays win!
- West Indies ended a run of three successive WT20I victories with defeat on Wednesday.
- Both teams have won one of the last two WT20I head to heads.
ENGW vs WIW Match Prediction & Analysis
Six months on from their previous meeting in the 2024 T20 World Cup and England Women got back to winning ways as they banished the memories of that painful six wicket defeat in the UAE with an eight wicket triumph of their own!
There were WT20I debutants for both teams in Canterbury in the opening game of the series and we expect both Em Arlott and Realeanna Grimmond to take the field once more in this match.
This game takes place on the south coast at Hove where we can expect a full house in an area where passion and support for women’s sport runs high.
TEAMS PREVIEW
England Women Preview
The new era for England Women’s cricket got off to a fine start on Wednesday night with the bowlers taking seven wickets while restricting West Indies to 146 before the batters made light work of the chase and got over the line with eight wickets and 21 balls remaining.
New captain Nat Sciver-Brunt may have enjoyed winning the match but her own performance will be one she wants to improve on as she was dismissed for a two-ball duck while former skipper Heather Knight returned to the ranks with a fluent and impressive 43 not out from just 27 balls.
At the top of the order, Sophia Dunkley comes into this game after making 81 not out from 56 deliveries and she will look to attack from the first ball once again in this clash.
Without Sophie Ecclestone once again in this game, expect Lauren Bell to be the main threat for England Women alongside Linsey Smith.
West Indies Women Preview
West Indies Women were the underdogs in the opening game of the series and will be once again in this match but any team whohas Hayley Matthews in their ranks will always be a threat.
Back in the leadership role and clearly the best player on the team, Matthews showed her class with 100 not out from 67 balls and took the Player of the Match Award despite being on the losing side.
She will be looking for more support from her team-mates in this game after none of them made more than 17 in the team total of 146/7!
With the ball, there was a wicket each for Zaida James and Afy Fletcher but don’t be surprised if Matthews plays a role with the ball this time, and Jannillea Glasgow will always be a threat with her pace.
Weather Conditions
There is always something of a sea breeze at Hove which can assist the bowlers when coming from a certain direction. No rain is in the forecast but it will not be a warm evening with the temperature likely to drop as low as 13 degrees by the end of the game.
ENGW vs WIW Pitch Report
There is rarely much turn for the spinners at this venue but the surface is consistent and batters will get full value for their shots.
We expect a par score to be around 155.
Toss: To Bowl
Overcast skies and chilly conditions are forecast for the Brighton and Hove area on Friday evening and neither side will want to be in the field in the second innings. Therefore we predict both teams will want to bowl first.
