IND vs RSA Match Prediction & Analysis
India take on South Africa in the 10th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Warm-up Matches 2026 on Wednesday, 4th February. The venue for the match is the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, with the scheduled start time set for 7:00 PM IST.
These two sides last met in early December in a five-match T20I series, which India won 3–1, and they face off once again ahead of the World Cup. For memory, these are also the two teams that clashed in the 2024 T20 World Cup final, a late-surge thriller that India went on to win.
TEAMS PREVIEW
India Preview
The host nation, India, will officially don their World Cup jerseys for the first and only warm-up match they will play before their title defence begins on 7th February, when they take on the USA in their opening group game.
There have been plenty of positives, and the team dynamics have changed significantly with the arrival of Ishan Kishan in the New Zealand series. He smashed the Kiwi bowlers to all parts of the ground, scoring 215 runs in four matches, including one fifty and one hundred, at a staggering strike rate of 231.18.
The return to form of Suryakumar Yadav was equally encouraging, as he finished the series with 242 runs in five matches, averaging 80 and striking at 196.75. There is no shortage of firepower in this Indian batting lineup, with power hitters right through to number seven.
South Africa Preview
South African players have enjoyed competitive game time in the SA20, where they have dealt with pressure situations and now look set for another push at the coveted T20 World Cup trophy after coming close to winning it last time around.
Ahead of this warm-up match, the Proteas won the T20I series against the West Indies 2–1. More than the result, they will be pleased with the way their batters handled the series, especially Quinton de Kock, who looks in beast mode at the moment. South Africa will hope he carries that form into the World Cup. Ryan Rickelton has also settled well into the number three role following his late inclusion in the squad.
David Miller, who had suffered an abductor injury, has recovered and passed his fitness test. He is likely to feature in this warm-up match to regain form and valuable game time, while the fixture also presents a big opportunity for Jason Smith to prove his worth as a power hitter.
Weather Conditions
Wednesday’s weather in Navi Mumbai is expected to be hot and sunny, with temperatures touching 33°C. Low humidity and zero chance of rain should ensure uninterrupted play, while a light breeze may offer some relief in the evening.
IND vs RSA Pitch Report
The pitch at Dr Dy Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai favours the batters and is a high scoring ground. The average 1st innings score in Men’s T20I’s is around 180 runs, while 210-220 is a par score. Expect both teams to attack and we predict either of India or South Africa to score past 210 runs if they bat first.
Toss: To Bat
Under lights DY Patil is one of the best grounds to chase down target’s but both teams will look to test their bowling lineups a bit and they might prefer to bat first.
