South Africa will face New Zealand in the second game of the T20I tri-series hosted in Zimbabwe. It’s been three years since the last Tri-series was played. The game will be played at Harare Sports Club, Harare, on 16th July from 4:30 pm onwards. South Africa began the series with a five-wicket win over Zimbabwe, while New Zealand will play this T20I after a four-month gap.

In the first game, South Africa bowled first to restrict Zimbabwe to 141. George Linde took three wickets for 10 runs in his three overs. The chase became difficult for South Africa as they lost the first three wickets for 38. Debutant Rubin Hermann (45) put up a partnership of 72 runs with Dewald Brewis, who scored 41 runs off just 17 deliveries. South Africa won the game by 5 wickets in the 16th over of the game.

New Zealand played their last T20I in March against Pakistan. Bowling first, they bowled out Pakistan for 128. James Neesham picked up five wickets for 22 runs. Tim Seifert then scored an unbeaten knock of 97 runs in 38 deliveries. New Zealand won the game by 8 wickets. Devon Conway has returned to the squad to replace Finn Allen, who suffered a foot injury at MLC 2025. Hay, Neesham, and Robinson have been added as a cover for Bracewell, Chapman, Phillips, and Ravindra, who are all involved in the MLC final.

South Africa Preview

South Africa is high on confidence after winning the test series earlier and the first game of the series comfortably. But the real test lies ahead as they will be facing New Zealand. Lhuan-dre Pretorius will open the innings with Reeza Hendricks. Pretorius got out on a duck on his debut. But the opener had scored 110 runs in 4 games at a strike rate of 141 in Vitality Blast 2025. Hendericks has experience of over 78 T20Is in which he has scored 2282 runs at a strike rate of 132. Skipper Rassie van der Dussen will come in at number three. Dussen scored 16 off 13 in the first game. The superstar of ODIs has a strike rate of 130 in T20Is.

Rubin Hermann will come in the middle with Dewald Brewis and Corbin Bosch. Hermann scored an unbeaten 45 off 37 deliveries in the first game. He had an amazing SA T20 where he scored 343 runs in 9 games at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 129. Dewald Brewis will be the player to watch out for. Brewis scored 41 off 17 balls in the first game. Brewis played in Vitality Blast and IPL before coming to the squad, where he scored at a strike rate of 180 in 14 games. Bosch scored 23 off 15 in the first game. He had taken 11 wickets with the ball in the SA T20 this season in 8 games.

New Zealand Preview

Tim Seifert will open the innings with Devon Conway. Seifert scored 249 runs in a five-match series against Pakistan at a strike rate above 200. He played in PSL 2025 for Karachi Kings, scoring 242 runs in 10 games at a strike rate of 148. He will be the batter to watch out for. Conway is returning to the national squad after a gap of one year. Most recently, he turned out for the Texas Super Kings in MLC, scoring 135 runs in four matches at a strike rate of 127. Mark Chapman will come in at number three. Chapman has a strike rate of 134 in T20Is.

Daryl Mitchell will come in the middle with James Neesham and Michael Hay. Mitchell has experience of 75 T20Is in which he has scored 1473 runs at a strike rate of 138. Neesham picked up five wickets in his last T20I. He will be the player to watch out for after his recent form in the Vitality Blast 2025, in which he scored 210 runs with the bat at a strike rate of 145 and picked up 20 wickets with the ball at an economy of 8.8 for Durham. Bevon Jacobs might get a chance against his birth nation after scoring 423 runs in domestic T20s at a strike rate of 148.

Jacob Duffy will lead the bowling attack with Adam Milne, Zakary Foulkes, and Will Oโ€™Rourke. Duffy will be the bowler to watch out for. He has 21 wickets in the last 9 T20Is at an economy of 6. Foulkes has 12 wickets in the last 8 T20Is at an economy of 8. Oโ€™Rourke picked up 15 wickets in 10 games of this seasonโ€™s Vitality Blast.

The weather at Derby is expected to be cloudy on match day, with temperatures ranging between 9 and 22 degrees Celsius. Winds will blow from the southeast at 10-16 km/h. The rain is not expected.
