VENUE: Sydney Cricket Ground – Sydney, Australia
TOURNAMENT: AUS vs WI
After a historic win over Australia in the second Test, West Indies were full of confidence ahead of the first ODI in Melbourne. However, they failed to deliver as the hosts won the first match by eight wickets. Debutant Xavier Barlett destroyed the Windies batting unit by picking up four wickets while Sean Abbott and Cameron Green picked up two each. On the other hand, Kaecy Carty was sensational with the bat for West Indies as he hit 88 runs while Roston Chase made 59 runs.
Meanwhile, Australia will be making multiple changes to their squad for the second ODI, to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), on February 4. Travis Head has been released from the squad, while Barlett too won’t feature in the second ODI as the team management decided to manage his workload. Josh Hazlewood has joined the squad for the second ODI while Jake Fraser-McGurk is expected to make his debut.
Sydney Cricket Ground Pitch Report and Conditions
The Sydney Cricket Ground will offer assistance to the spinners. The batters will enjoy their time but one needs to settle down well to take advantage. Bowling first will be ideal and anything above 300 runs will be a good total on this pitch.

After a rough couple of innings in Test cricket, Steven Smith managed to put up a show in the second innings of the Gabba Test. However, he couldn’t take his team home. In the first ODI, the 34-year-old ensured the win with his 79*. He would aim to repeat the same and seal the ODI series.
Probable Best Bowler: Josh Hazlewood
Ace pacer Josh Hazlewood was in remarkable form in the Test series. He would aim to repeat the same in the second ODI and get the job done in Sydney.
