MATCH: Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe
DATE: Jan 11, 2024
TIME: 14:30 IST / 9:00 GMT

VENUE: R. Premadasa Stadium – Colombo, Sri Lanka

TOURNAMENT: SL vs ZIM

While the first ODI got washed off due to rain and Sri Lanka won the second game by two wickets, the visitors will aim to end the contest on level terms. At the same time, the hosts will be eager to win the duel and seal the series.

R. Premadasa Stadium Pitch Report

The R. Premadasa Stadium pitch is renowned for its inclination towards favouring spin bowlers, although it also offers advantages to batters due to its fast outfield and relatively shorter boundaries. Chasing a target on this pitch could present difficulties. However, considering the current weather conditions, the captain winning the toss might choose to bowl first.

SL vs ZIM Top Team Bowlers

We recommend Maheesh Theekshana, Dilshan Madushanka and Dushmantha Chameera as the bowlers for Sri Lanka. Chameera took two wickets in the second ODI and picked up the key wickets of Craig Ervine and Ryan Burl in the 37th and 39th overs. Madushanka has a strike-rate of 23.1 in this format and has taken 34 wickets from his 17 ODIs since making his debut in January last year.

For Zimbabwe, Richard Ngarava, Sikandar Raza and Blessing Muzarabani are our bowling picks. Muzarabani has taken three wickets so far in the series and got the crucial wicket of Janith Liyanage in the second ODI which gave Zimbabwe a massive opportunity with Sri Lanka on 172/8. Ngarava bowled three maidens in his very strong performance on Monday and he has now taken both a four wicket and a five wicket haul in this format.

🏆 Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe Prediction

Due to the weather in the first ODI on Saturday, this series still has something to play for ahead of the final game. Zimbabwe had some really strong moments in the second match and at one stage looked likely to win the match and go 1-0 up in the series. However, Sri Lanka have good experience across their side and we expect them to have enough quality to get over the line again and win the series 2-0.

SL vs ZIM, Probable Playing XI
